Ukraine President Zelenskyy Seeks Direct Talks with Putin to End Conflict.

In an effort to resolve the ongoing dispute, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that he is willing to hold direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a recent interview, Zelenskyy stressed that although he is open to such discussions, he demands that important international players—most notably the US and EU—be included in order to guarantee a thorough and long-lasting solution. He said, "If people believe we must move to the diplomatic track, and I believe we are ready to move to the diplomatic track, there must be the US, Europe, Ukraine and Russia [at the talks."

With almost 45,100 military deaths and roughly 390,000 injuries among Ukrainian soldiers, Zelenskyy emphasized the devastating toll the conflict has done on Ukraine. Additionally, he calculated that up to 700,000 Russians had been injured and about 350,000 had died. These startling figures highlight how urgently a diplomatic solution is required to stop additional suffering and fatalities.

Zelenskyy is adamant about Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity even if he is open to negotiations. He has continuously turned down any offers that would compromise Ukraine's independence or give up territory to Russia. His unwavering stance demonstrates his determination to make sure that no diplomatic endeavors weaken Ukraine's sovereignty or encourage aggression.
