Rapper Sean Kingston, best known for hits like Beautiful Girls, has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a $1 million wire fraud scheme.

The sentencing took place in South Florida on August 15, 2025, following his conviction earlier this year. Prosecutors revealed that Kingston and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, carried out the scheme by exploiting his celebrity status to acquire luxury items without paying for them. Turner, who played a leading role in the operation, was sentenced in July to five years in prison.

According to court documents, the fraudulent activities took place between April 2023 and March 2024. The pair allegedly lured sellers by promising promotional opportunities and then presented fake wire transfer receipts as proof of payment.

Through this method, they obtained high-end goods including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, luxury watches, and even a massive 232-inch LED television. Many victims were left unpaid, forcing them to take legal action to recover losses.

In court, Kingston apologized and expressed regret for his actions, promising to repay the victims. His attorney argued that the singer had risen to fame at a young age and lacked proper financial guidance, which left him vulnerable to poor decisions. Despite requesting leniency and citing health concerns, the judge ordered Kingston into immediate custody.

The case highlights how quickly fame can spiral into financial ruin when mismanaged, leaving a lasting impact not only on Kingston’s career but also on the many victims of his fraudulent scheme.
