Rev. Kusi Boateng Arrested by NIB

Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, has been taken into custody by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) over allegations related to his dual identity. His involvement as a board member of Ghana’s National Cathedral project has been mired in controversy, with previous investigations questioning financial transactions linked to the project. This arrest has reignited public scrutiny over his role and the broader financial management of the Cathedral initiative, which has already faced significant criticism and delays. The controversy surrounding Rev. Kusi Boateng dates back to a 2023 petition filed by MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alleging conflict of interest and financial mismanagement. The petition highlighted a GH¢2.6 million transfer from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited, a company reportedly linked to him under his alternate identity. While a CHRAJ investigation later determined that the payment was a reimbursement for earlier advances he made to contractors, concerns over transparency and accountability have persisted. Many critics argue that the lack of proper documentation and due process raises questions about the integrity of the entire project. Beyond Kusi Boateng’s arrest, the National Cathedral project itself remains in turmoil, with construction stalled for over two years due to financial constraints. The project, initially projected to cost $400 million, has faced mounting scrutiny under President John Mahama’s administration, which has vowed to launch a full-scale probe into its financial dealings. The latest developments, including Boateng’s detention, only add to the growing controversy, fueling public skepticism about the project's legitimacy and the officials overseeing it.
