PURC Increases Electricity Tariffs by 2.45% Effective July 1

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 2.45% hike in electricity tariffs across all consumer categories, with the adjustment set to take effect on July 1, 2025. This latest increment impacts residential, non-residential, and special load tariff (SLT) customers as part of PURC’s regular quarterly tariff review process.
In a statement, PURC explained that the upward review was driven by key economic indicators, including a rise in inflation, fluctuations in the exchange rate, and escalating fuel prices. These factors, the Commission noted, have made it necessary to make adjustments in order to maintain stability in utility service delivery and sustainability within the power sector.

The PURC released a notice informing the general public ahead of time.
Consumers are advised to take note of the change and plan accordingly, as the new rates will reflect in their July electricity bills.
