Popular Cartoonist Nii Kpakpo Gbemi Arrested for Alleged Visa Fraud

Ghanaian cartoonist Samuel Ocantey, popularly known as Nii Kpakpo Gbemi, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding an individual of over GH₵448,000 under the pretense of securing a U.S. visa. Ocantey, the creator of the well-known Kpakpo Series, a Peter Griffin-inspired cartoon with a Ga voice-over, reportedly used his connections with high-profile figures in Ghana, including members of the Mahama family, footballer Dede Ayew, and actress Jackie Appiah, to gain credibility.

According to reports, the victim paid the substantial amount for three U.S. visas, believing Ocantey had the influence to facilitate the process. However, after failing to deliver the visas or refund the money, the matter was reported to the police. Rather than addressing the issue, Ocantey allegedly avoided responsibility, often making excuses and claiming to be occupied.

In an attempt to evade accountability, Ocantey reportedly fabricated stories, including a claim that he had traveled to Nigeria with former President Mahama. However, investigations by FameBugs have proven this claim to be false. His arrest has sparked discussions on social media, with many expressing shocks over the allegations against the well-known content creator.
