Nana Romeo Drops KiDi Over $20,000 Performance Fee Demand

Renowned Ghanaian radio presenter, Nana Romeo, has voiced his frustration over the high performance fees charged by some musicians. Speaking in a recent interview, he revealed that he had initially planned to book popular highlife and Afrobeats artist KiDi for a show but had to reconsider due to the high cost involved. According to him, the artist’s management demanded $20,000 for a single performance, a price he considered excessive. As a result, he decided to drop KiDi from the lineup, explaining that the amount was beyond his budget and not financially viable for the event.

Nana Romeo expressed his disappointment, stating that exorbitant performance fees make it difficult for event organizers, especially those working within limited budgets, to book top-tier artists. He emphasized that while he understands musicians need to be compensated fairly for their craft, there should be a balance to ensure affordability and sustainability in the industry. His comments have since sparked discussions about the pricing structures of Ghanaian artists and whether their charges align with the economic realities of the local entertainment industry.
