Mahama Orders Reversal of Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Land Sales Under Akufo-Addo.

President John Dramani Mahama has issued a directive to reverse all sales and allocations of lands belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that took place under the previous administration. The decision primarily affects prime lands in the Airport Residential Area, which had been distributed to seven entities and individuals. By reclaiming these lands, the government aims to preserve state-owned properties and prevent the privatization of key national assets. This move is seen as part of a broader effort to uphold transparency and accountability in public asset management.
The announcement was made by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who praised President Mahama for his leadership in safeguarding government properties. He reiterated that under his tenure, no land or property belonging to the Ministry—either within Ghana or abroad—would be sold, emphasizing that state assets must remain under public ownership. Ablakwa further described the directive as a decisive step to put an end to what he termed "State Capture," reaffirming the government's stance against the unauthorized sale of national resources.
