"No room for xenophobia: Nigerians are safe in Ghana," says Mahama.

Ghanaian President John Mahama has assured Nigerians living in Ghana that they have nothing to fear amid recent concerns over xenophobia and deportation rumors.
Addressing the issue publicly, Mahama dismissed viral videos and protest clips circulating on social media as misleading, clarifying that the footage was outdated and involved fewer than 50 people.

He urged calm and emphasized that Ghana remains a safe and welcoming place for Nigerians, highlighting the longstanding cultural and historical ties between the two nations.

His comments come amid diplomatic efforts by both Ghana and Nigeria to contain tensions sparked by anti-Nigerian sentiments expressed during a small demonstration.
Nigerian authorities, including the Senate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have also reassured the public that no mass deportations are underway. Both countries are committed to preserving peace and maintaining the principles of ECOWAS integration.
Mahama reiterated Ghana’s zero-tolerance stance on xenophobia and pledged that Nigerians’ lives, businesses, and properties will remain protected.
