Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama terminated all satellite TV subscriptions at the Jubilee House in a cost-saving move that is now saving the presidency approximately GH₵120,000 every month.

The directive is part of broader efforts to reduce wasteful expenditure at the seat of government. According to Mr. Ofosu Kwakye, a review of operational costs revealed that multiple paid TV subscriptions had been maintained, despite the availability of local channels. Speaking to GBC, he explained that these costs were unjustified, especially when small amounts could have addressed vital needs in deprived communities.

“There were areas where just GH₵1,000 could fix a broken water pump and provide clean water,” he said. “Yet, we were spending 120,000 cedis monthly just on TV. President Mahama put an end to that.”
