Koforidua Woman Re-Arrested After Alleged Acid Attack Leads to Boyfriend’s Death

Police in Koforidua have re-arrested 29-year-old Vera Akosua Asare after the death of her boyfriend, whom she allegedly attacked with acid while he was asleep. The incident, which happened in March 2025, stemmed from suspicions of infidelity.

Vera, who shared a child with the victim, Daniel Omane, is said to have entered his room while he slept and poured acid on him. Her attempt to flee the scene was foiled by co-tenants who rushed in after hearing Omane’s cries for help.

She was apprehended and handed over to the police, while Omane was taken to the Eastern Regional Hospital with severe burns. Vera was initially remanded but later eleased on bail to care for their child, as her boyfriend continued to battle for his life in the hospital.

Unfortunately, after months of fighting complications from the attack, Omane passed away a few days ago—leading authorities to rearrest Vera Asare.
