"How can my dad be racist? Come on, guys!" – Didier Drogba defends José Mourinho against racism allegations.

Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba has spoken out in defense of José Mourinho after the Portuguese manager faced accusations of racism. Mourinho, currently managing Fenerbahçe in Turkey, has been at the center of controversy following a heated match against Galatasaray. Given his strong ties to both Mourinho and Galatasaray, Drogba took to social media to address the issue, urging fans to focus on their club’s success rather than engaging in divisive debates.

In his message, Drogba reaffirmed his deep connection with Galatasaray and his admiration for the club’s passionate fan base. He stated: “Dear Galatasaray… You know how proud I was to wear the yellow and red jersey, also my love for the most decorated club in Turkey. We all know how passionate and heated rivalries can be, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience it.” He then shifted the focus to Mourinho, with whom he has shared a long and successful history. Defending his former manager, Drogba added: “I’ve seen the recent comments about José Mourinho. Trust me when I tell you I have known José for 25 years and he is not a racist and history (past and recent) is there to prove it.”

Drogba concluded by encouraging Galatasaray fans to direct their energy toward supporting the team in their pursuit of another league title. He reminded them of their shared goal, saying: “Let’s focus on our games, support our brilliant lions and let’s win the league to get close to our 5 stars.” Finally, in an emotional appeal, he dismissed the allegations against Mourinho, referring to him as a father figure: “How can my dad be a racist… come on guys.” His words reflect not only his loyalty to Mourinho but also his desire to keep the footballing spirit alive in Turkey without unnecessary distractions.
