Highlife Legend Rex Omar Appointed Presidential Staffer for Black Star Experience

Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician and entrepreneur, Rex Owusu Marfo, widely known as Rex Omar, has been appointed as a Presidential Staffer for the Black Star Experience. This initiative, introduced under the current administration, seeks to redefine Ghana’s cultural identity while promoting investment, job creation, and tourism. The Black Star Experience will feature year-round events showcasing entertainment, arts, and educational activities to enhance Ghana’s global image.
With an illustrious career in music and deep expertise in intellectual property management, Rex Omar is well-suited for this role. He previously served two terms as Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) and held leadership positions such as Vice President of the Copyright Society of Ghana. Additionally, he contributed to the 2013 Committee for National Intellectual Property and Policy Strategy, further strengthening his influence in Ghana’s creative industry.
As a key figure in the Black Star Experience, Rex Omar will be responsible for curating and managing various cultural programs to celebrate Ghana’s rich artistic heritage. His leadership is expected to foster growth in the creative sector, attract international attention, and provide opportunities for local artists.
