GNFS Recovers Body of Schoolgirl in Kasoa After Late-Night Drowning Incident

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has retrieved the lifeless body of a schoolgirl from a pool of water in Kasoa, located in the Central Region.
The tragic incident occurred late Monday night, 23 June 2025. The GNFS received a distress call at 10:02 p.m. and promptly dispatched a rescue team, which arrived at the scene by 10:28 p.m. After a swift but coordinated rescue operation, the body was recovered at approximately 10:42 p.m. and handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Gloria Segoe, a student of Keta Business Senior High School. Preliminary information indicates that she had requested permission to visit her grandmother in Agbozome but instead traveled to Kasoa to see her boyfriend.
In a statement, the GNFS commended the professionalism and dedication of its personnel, who carried out the recovery operation under challenging conditions, ensuring the body was treated with dignity.
Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding her untimely death. The Fire Service extended its condolences to the grieving family and advised students and young people to exercise caution and make responsible decisions concerning their movements and safety.
