Ghana Police Warns of Rising Human Trafficking Linked to QNET Scam

The Ghana Police Service has raised an urgent red flag over a growing human trafficking network luring unsuspecting Ghanaians into exploitative conditions across the ECOWAS sub-region. Addressing the media in Accra on Monday, June 30, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, revealed that 66 victims associated with a QNET-related trafficking scheme had recently been rescued in Nigeria.
The victims, mostly young Ghanaians, were promised lucrative job opportunities and sports academy admissions abroad. However, upon arrival, their travel documents were seized, and their movements were heavily restricted. The rescue operation—conducted between May 19 and June 27, 2025—was made possible through coordinated efforts with Interpol.
DCOP Donkor warned the public, especially job-seeking youth, to be extremely cautious of unsolicited job or education offers outside Ghana. She also urged families and community members to help verify such opportunities and to immediately report suspicious schemes. “These traffickers use lies, coercion, and trap their victims by taking away their documents,” she stressed, adding that anyone found guilty of such crimes will face prosecution.
