Vice President Commissions Ghana’s First Private Medical University

The Vice President of Ghana has officially commissioned the nation’s first-ever private medical university, Entrance University of Health Sciences (EUHS), located in Spintex, Greater Accra. The institution is breaking new ground as the first private university in Ghana to offer full medical (MBChB) and dental (BDS) degree programmes under one roof. EUHS received its charter in December 2024, granting it the authority to award its own degrees. The university boasts advanced teaching and clinical facilities, including smart lecture halls, simulation labs, dental stations, and a modern morgue, with admissions set to begin in February 2025.
During the commissioning, the Vice President emphasized the importance of partnerships between government and the private sector in addressing the shortage of medical professionals in the country. She noted that institutions like EUHS play a crucial role in improving healthcare delivery by producing qualified doctors and dentists locally. The Chancellor of the university also appealed to government to extend scholarships and investment to private universities, ensuring more students can access high-quality healthcare education without traveling abroad.
