Ghana Launches Drive to Build 600 CHPS Compounds by 2025

The Government of Ghana has unveiled an ambitious plan to construct approximately 600 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds nationwide by the end of 2025. The initiative, spearheaded by the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, is part of broader efforts to expand access to quality primary healthcare, particularly in underserved and rural communities. According to the minister, each district will be responsible for building two new CHPS compounds this year.
Speaking on the rollout, Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that if the current pace is maintained, Ghana could surpass 2,000 new CHPS compounds in the next four years. He hailed the project as a “major step” in strengthening the country’s healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that essential medical services reach the doorsteps of all citizens, regardless of location.
