Fuel consumers in Ghana may soon experience a significant hike in prices, as the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) projects an increase of up to 9% at the pumps starting tomorrow, July 16, 2025. This anticipated rise, according to COPEC, stems from a combination of factors including global market fluctuations in crude oil prices, freight charges, and Free On Board (FOB) costs. Additionally, the continuous depreciation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar and adjustments in local taxes and margins by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) have contributed to the expected price surge.

Though COPEC’s projection is not an official pricing directive, it serves as a strong indication of what consumers should expect in the coming days. The final pricing adjustments will be confirmed by the NPA. In light of this, Ghanaians are advised to prepare for increased transportation and commodity costs, as fuel price hikes typically have ripple effects on the cost of goods and services nationwide.
