Dormaahene Disputes Claim That Golden Stool Descended from the Sky

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, has dismissed claims that a spiritual being can summon objects from the skies to manifest physically, insisting there is no truth to such assertions.
The Dormaahene argued that the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, known as Sika Dwa Kofi — which history claims was brought down from the sky by the high priest Okomfo Anokye — appeared to be welded when it was recently displayed publicly.
He, therefore, expressed skepticism about the historical narrative that the stool was summoned from the heavens. Speaking at the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, who is also known in legal circles as Justice Daniel Mensah and currently serves as a High Court Judge, stated, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am telling you it is a lie.”
“Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?” he asked.
Historical accounts suggest that the Golden Stool descended in a cloud of white dust, accompanied by thunder, and landed on the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu I, following the command of Okomfo Anokye, a traditional priest.
The Dormaahene has, however, been a consistent critic of historical records, especially those he considers to be distortions of the country’s past.
