Abeiku Santana Appointed Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority

Renowned media personality and tourism advocate, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). His appointment comes as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts to revamp the tourism sector and boost its contribution to national development. In this role, he will work closely with the Executive Director, Maame Efua Houadjeto, to implement policies and strategies aimed at enhancing Ghana’s tourism appeal and fostering growth within the industry.

Abeiku Santana, widely recognized for his passion and commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture and heritage, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He holds advanced degrees in Tourism Management from the University of Cape Coast and Marketing Strategy from the University of Ghana Business School. Over the years, he has played a crucial role in major tourism initiatives, including the globally acclaimed "Year of Return" and "Beyond the Return" campaigns, which significantly boosted Ghana's visibility as a leading African tourism destination. His extensive background in media, public relations, advertising, and tourism consultancy further strengthens his ability to drive innovative campaigns and industry partnerships.

His appointment has been met with widespread praise from tourism stakeholders, entertainment industry players, and the general public and lot of supporters of the NDC do not support his appointment. Many believe that his deep understanding of Ghana’s tourism landscape, coupled with his strategic leadership and vast network, will help reposition the sector for greater impact.
