"50% of this year’s National Service postings will go to the private sector" -Mr. Felix Gyamfi

The Acting General Managing Director of the Ghana National Service Authority, Mr. Felix Gyamfi, has announced a significant shift in this year's National Service postings, with 50% of personnel being assigned to the private sector. This move aims to better equip young graduates with the necessary skills for the evolving job market. He emphasized that the private sector has the capacity to absorb more service personnel, providing hands-on experience that aligns with industry demands.

Mr. Gyamfi highlighted that the traditional approach, where most National Service personnel were posted to government institutions, needs to evolve to match the changing economic landscape. By channeling half of the postings into private companies, service personnel will gain practical exposure, develop entrepreneurial mindsets, and enhance their employability. This strategic shift reflects a broader national effort to bridge the gap between education and employment.

According to him, there is already a demand for skilled young professionals in the private sector, and this policy adjustment will help meet that need. He believes that increasing private-sector participation in the National Service scheme will not only benefit the youth but also strengthen businesses by providing them with fresh talent. Ultimately, this initiative is expected to contribute significantly to national economic growth while addressing the persistent issue of graduate unemployment.
