178 Passengers and Crew Evacuated After American Airlines Plane Cashes Fire Following Emergency Landing

An American Airlines flight carrying 172 passengers and six crew members was forced to make an emergency landing at Denver International Airport on March 13, 2025, following reports of engine vibrations. The Boeing 737-800 had taken off from Colorado Springs and was originally bound for Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport when the flight crew noticed unusual engine activity. As a precaution, the pilots diverted to Denver, where the aircraft landed safely at approximately 5:15 p.m. However, while taxiing to the gate, one of the plane’s engines suddenly caught fire, producing thick black smoke that alarmed passengers and ground personnel.

In response to the fire, the crew quickly initiated emergency evacuation procedures, deploying the aircraft's slides to ensure all onboard could exit safely. Many passengers were seen rushing out of the aircraft, with some even standing on the plane’s wing during the evacuation. Emergency responders arrived promptly and extinguished the flames before they could spread further. Though there were no fatalities, twelve individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the engine fire and assess any potential safety concerns regarding the aircraft’s mechanical condition.
